Demo Day 2: Cake decoration at P&O Cruise

I had the pleasure to pass on some of my experience on how to decorate a cake using buttercream and two types of flowers.

On my second day of my cooking demonstration at P & O cruise I demonstrated two different ways of how to decorate a cake.

Semi Naked cake already has been one of the most popular of many people. The technique of using buttercream and scrap the side to achieve a beautiful, rustic effect. When using natural flowers is very important that the flower’s steam  are treated to avoid any contact with the cake and also keep the flower fresh.

The second cake I applied the watercolor technique of mixing 2 or 3 different shades of the same color starting from darker and proceeding to the lighter up to the top. This technique is well known in the world of painting and art.
For this style of cake I taught the audience how to make rice paper flower. Also a super popular technique among cakes nowadays and super easy to do.

Happy baking!!
